Why AEGIS?

AEGIS Women's Hockey was created with one purpose: to give women a place where they can learn, improve, compete, and belong.

The name Aegis comes from ancient Greek mythology. The Aegis was a legendary shield associated with Athena, the goddess of wisdom, courage, and strategic warfare. More than just a symbol of protection, it represented strength, confidence, guidance, and leadership.

Those values are the foundation of AEGIS Women's Hockey.
